Keep Vancouver Spectacular returns May 29th!

Come help us “Keep Vancouver Spectacular,” or should we say "Keep Mountain View Spectacular"? Join in our annual, local clean-up day and help pick up litter and debris found in our streets and in the lanes. Just show up as early as you can between 9 - 10am on Saturday at the corner of East 27th Avenue & Prince Albert Street.

Your contact will be Jackie, or 2010 KVS coordinator. She'll give you need – gloves, tongs, bags – any tools to help tidy up our neighbourhood.

Why do we do this? One reason is for our community. It's a simple way to show your neighbourhood spirit, and get out to meet folks. It's also a great way to know what's happening around here.

We hope to see you Saturday morning. Kids definitely welcome!!

Easter Sunrise Service at Ruth Morton church

Easter is coming soon and what better way to celebrate than with a pancake breakfast? The folks down at Ruth Morton Baptist Church are holding a free pancake and sausage brunch after their Easter Sunrise Service.

The service will happen Sunday, April 4th at 10:30am. Ruth Morton church is located at the corner of 27th and Prince Albert street.

McBride Annex Elementary bottle drive

If you have bottles and other recyclables ready to drop off – hold on! Your local school needs them.

Bring the bottles to us, or let us know by coming by and we'll come and pick them up!

Time: 10:00am to 2:00pm (pick-up driver arrives after 2pm)

Date: Saturday, Jan 9

What: All returnable bottles, cans, tetra packs.

Where: Drop off at McBride Annex School (St. Catherine's Street @ 32nd Avenue), or come let us know and we'll pick them up for you!

Are you interested in a mid-morning bootcamp in Mountain View?

One of our community members is wondering if there is any interest in a Tuesday morning (outdoor) Bootcamp at McBride Annex from 9:15-10:15AM. A trainer is available who runs a bootcamp that a few of us attend early morning.

We would need 5 participants (minimum) to offer the class.

What you need:

5, 8 or 10 pound weights
yoga or workout matt
cost $10 per person

New murals in Mountain View

A proud new addition to the murals in Mountain View. This one is on East 27th & Fraser.

We're excited to show off our third new community mural. In fact, we want to talk a whole lot more about Mountain View's murals. New ones are now painted at 33rd & Knight Street (by local artist Jeannie Kamins), 28th & Fraser and 27th & Fraser (seen above).

Last year we had a mural done on a wall at 26th & Fraser.

We'll get out and take a few photos and show them off here soon.
