Mountain View Cemetery open house, July 11th

open house invite2.jpg

Vancouver's Mountain View neighbourhood takes its name from the neighbouring landmark cemetery. There have been no new burial plots made available in this large site since 1988. In recent years the City has developed new vertical "niches" for placing a marker and a sealed place for an urn for cremated remains.

On July 11th Mountain View is having an open house to show off its fantastic updated facilities, including a meeting space, the aforementioned niche walls and other public realm improvements. Here below is a blurb from the cemetery...

After 120 years, it’s the beginning of a new relationship between the public and Mountain View, Vancouver’s only cemetery.

Celebrate with us on July 11, 2009 at our Open House, 11am - 3pm

  • Featuring live music in the courtyard, joss paper demonstrations from Dr.Sun Yat Sen Gardens, and guided tours of the cemetery.
  • Take a stroll through the newly created columbaria and water features, and experience the spectacular view from the top of the cemetery.
  • Have a picnic by the fountain, and help start a new summer tradition at Mountain View Cemetery

See event details on Facebook, or visit the City's website.
