Keep Vancouver Spectacular - May 24th!
Mountain View has been registered with Keep Vancouver Spectacular for Saturday, May 24th, to take place between 9am and 11:30am.
Please meet at the corner of 27th & Prince Albert.
Plastic bags, tongs and rubber gloves will be provided.
Bring any or all of the following: rake, shovel, broom, dustpan, your own gloves.
Groups of two or more will be given a map of a section in an area from 25th & 31st Avenues and from St. Catherines to St. George Streets.
The intent is to pick up any debris found on the streets and in the lanes. The debris ranges from pieces of paper, cigarette packages, coffee cups, anything that would normally be put into a garbage can.
The tied-up bags will then be put on the closest corner to be picked up by a vehicle that will take them to NE corner of 27th & Prince Albert.
If you're not able to help out on the 24th please consider going out in the next week or so and pick up around your own block and lane - that would be a big help. Make it a weekly or monthly thing to do with the kids.
During May, Vancouver residents can dispose of household garbage and bulky items at no charge at the Vancouver Landfill in Delta, and pick up a metre of free compost. Garbage is accepted from passenger cars, trailers, small pickup and vans. Garbage in vehicles larer than 3/4 tons will only be allowed the first 500 kilos free. Proof of vehicle registration is required to confirm Vancouver residency. Commercial and hazardous waste is not accepted.
If you have any questions please call Jackie, the KVS Coordinator, at 604-879-5485.
